About

We work across our five University and NHS partners, utilising the local, national and international influence of our Board members, to expand the region’s capacity for health and care innovation, improved training and education, and cross-sector research.

This ensures our region maintains its ability to deliver excellent health research, health education and patient care through an integrated and fertile ecosystem for innovation.

Established first in 2014, Oxford Academic Health Partners is designated as one of eight Academic Health Science Centres by NHS England, NHS Improvement and the National Institute for Health and Care Research.  Oxford and Newcastle AHSC are currently co-chairing this national group.

More: The partnership

To ensure we maintain strong links with social and community care, we engage regularly with local authorities and the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and West Berkshire (BOB) Integrated Care System.

Funding:

OAHP is funded through subscriptions from the Partners.

In addition, OAHP has a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with legal independence from each of its partners, established in 2017.  The Charity specifically supports areas including the development of research capacity and capability amongst all staff and particularly nurses, midwives, the allied healthcare professions, pharmacists and healthcare scientists.
