Kamaldeep (Kam) Bhui CBE is Professor of Psychiatry at University of Oxford, Senior Research Fellow at Wadham College, University of Oxford, and Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at Oxford Health and East London NHS Foundation Trusts.
Kam is Co-Director of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration, Oxford and Thames Valley (ARC) wef 1 April 2026.
His research centres on health inequalities, especially understanding how to improve care, reduce inequalities, and provide preventive opportunities to improve the lives of culturally and ethnically diverse populations. His work spans cultural psychiatry, health services research, policy, and public and global mental health. He has published extensively on social and cultural influences on mental health, public and global mental health, is now developing digital and experiential co-designed interventions for prevention and care. He leads the CHIMES research team and holds a number of strategic Directorships (World Psychiatric Association Collaborating Centre Oxford, Centre for Understanding Personality, Public Mental Health Implementation Centre at Royal College of Psychiatrists) as well as Trustee roles in charities (Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Wadham College).
